I might be rash with purchases / Bottom Text

Today’s deck is the Hanson-Roberts Tarot.

Honestly? I’d be super into it if I was less of a weeb.

Today’s reading says that now’s the time to go and do that thing you’ve done so much self-imprevement for.

So one thing I’ve been thinking about doing is casually singing more in public in spaces where it’s not… a hassle to do so. I had this mental image of doing all the walking in Okinawa with my portable speaker while singing, something that didn’t happen because Shigira didn’t really have the kind of beach I had in mind for that.

I take the reading to be encouragement for that.

I mentioned yesterday how by moving containers from one room to another constantly I was also sorting them a little bit each time.

One detail I didn’t mention was that it actually allows me to get a feel for what’s left to sort around. So right now one of my main priorities became finding a home for all the artbooks I have.

Artbooks are tricky because… basically due to their size you always end up with two tiers of them and then one completely useless tier in the bookshelf.

So just looking for options out of curiosity I tried to find the biggest bookshelf I could get.

The standard shelf is at most like 2m tall because well… that’s a reasonable size for the average person, but I wondered if there were more specialized furniture or something like that.

Eventually I found it.

It’s more of a metal rack, but the idea remains.

It seemed to be a tailor-made answer to my prayers: It was fully tiered so the problem of running into a support mid-point wasn’t there, It has the right depth and is basically equivalent width-wise to one of the usual big bookshelves I have, and APPARENTLY it goes all the way to the roof.

I was skeptical of this last point though, because some say that but what they mean is that it reaches up to the roof for the support meaning you might have like 50cm of Nothing anyways.

The description said it reached between 160 and 270cm but I couldn’t see how… not until I saw the instruction video at least.

THAT makes sense.

I ordered one and we’ll see how that goes, but I’ve got a good feeling about it.

It did leave me thinking, however, how it had been a long while since I last saw one of those flat steel racks, tension type or otherwise. I had like two of them when I first moved to my old apartment and was figuring things out.

For a while now the only type I’ve seen is this one instead.

They’re not bad and it’s not like I’m in a hurry to find the former type for some reason, it’s just one of those things where you realize something hasn’t been there for a bit.

Curiosity actually got the best of me and when I went to the hardware store later one of the first things I did was check if maybe I was looking in the wrong place or something but nope.

I actually have a tension rack similar to the one in the photo… on a tab I mean, as a potential purchase.

I’m thinking of getting one of those as a room divider, but I’m holding back for now for a number of reasons including determining where in the room it would go precisely and what would go in it. While I’m not against just having a shelf, if it’s gonna have books then I’d have to make sure which book size and that it has support on the other side of itself if so.

There’s not much else to report because I preemptively did everything yesterday already.
