OKAY I didn’t forget the month’s reading this time.
On my own mental state, there’s a sense of having retreated into myself to wonder how to deal with emotional scars. On a deeper level I feel like I’m accelerating towards an emotional crash. And on an even deeper level I’m just tired of fighting against my feelings.
Predictions for the month are that at the start there’s going to be a very accelerated breathrough emotionally. By the middle of the month I’ll face indecision on how to charge ahead defending myself. And finally at the end of the month I’ll face exhaustion from some emotional hit.
However, the reading advises that in the face of all this, the best thing I can do is just charge ahead with confidence.
These readings have become more and more on point as time has been going on. In fact, last month I literally had a moment going “oh this is what the cards meant, huh?”.
With that in mind, the bit about the end of the month spooks me a little. I don’t even know what it might entail but I feel like the fact it spooks me a bit is worth meditating on.
So for those just tuning in (first of all: thank you), I’ve been long suffering bank-related bullshit. The current solution involves me moving all my money into the country but in order to do so I’ve been waiting for my My Number Card (basically the card with all the tax information of the individual) in order to finish the process.
TECHNICALLY I could tell the bank to send all the money as Japanese yen, but the taxes are already gonna eat a lot of it, I’d like to at least keep them as dollars.
For those keeping up with this bullshit (first of all: thank you) I went to put in the request exactly two Mondays ago. So of course when the “come pick up your shit” notification hasn’t arrived in my mailbox today I got curious and went to check the website.
It SEEMS they either finished or mailed the thing on the 29th, but I know how snail mail works with government stuff so it’s probably/hopefully gonna arrive this week.
It’s kinda like how last year I get some notification that I need something for my visa and they give me two weeks to mail it in, but they mail it on Friday and arrives on Monday which means instead of 14 days I’ve got 11 or, more likely given I might see the notification a bit late, 10.
Aside from that, V is leaving soon so we went to Donki to get snacks and got some eel. Some real good eel, may I add.
There’s really not much else to today. Even in the country as a whole it was a long weekend so I wouldn’t be able to do paperwork if I wanted to.
This was the point where I realized WHY the My Number stuff hadn’t arrived yet by the way.
Oh, I did leave my phone running while we were walking around getting stuff, though. And I got the DQ Walk promotion for three classes. They’re neat because not only do they raise the chance of their respective passive skills (higher chance of shielding others, higher chance of casting a spell twice, etc) but also add a non-stackable stats passive (2% crit and so on).
I’m currently missing 3 classes. Pirate, Magic Knight, and… Monster Wrangler I think it’s called in the west? Here it’s Mamono Master but it’s been a hot minute since I’ve played any mainline DQ with classes.
There’s actually two other classes: Ranger and Superstar, but they don’t have promotion quests right now.
I actually have a whole party setup that’s just Monster Wranglers because they have this thing where you get stat bonuses depending on how many monsters you’ve recruited and they’re a) Character-specific instead of party-wide, and b) only valid if you’re using the job with that party member. With the current bonuses topping off at 400 monsters recruited while the class is set on that character (thankfully with a party of 4 it counts for everyone once each).
Monster scouting is a good investment, though. Each monster gives you a permanent stat bonus to a specific class (eg: recruit 1 slime and get +4 Attack on Pirate, recruit 2 and get +3 Defense) and then a whole ass boost to everything (eg: recruit 7 slimes and get a permanent +1% damage to any slime-type enemy).
And it might sound like just a secondary thing BUT there’s THREE WHOLE ASS TIER 3 CLASSES THAT GET THOSE BONUSES.
