And I will walk 20k steps

Today’s deck is Tarot en Español.

Okay so this is super specific AND a tangent, but back when the OG Pokemon boom was in full force there were packs of Gameboy Color and Pokemon Red/Blue that had that one PNG of Ash running forwards that was everywhere and he had a speech bubble that said “¡Hablo español!” and for some reason that is the most vivid pokemon memory I have to this day.

The deck is cool, though. I like that it’s original illustrations instead of just a translation of the Waite deck. Interestingly, the bax had an NFC chip in a corner rather than a QR code which is a cool detail.

Today’s reading comments to remember to ask for help when the weight of responsability becomes too much.

Predictably, the nap ended up going longer than intended, but I went to bed half expecting that so it’s fine.

There were no interruptions but I did see a missed call from one of the mail companies, probably asking if I was home so they could deliver something.

I wouldn’t know, my calls phone was in another room.

Something kinda funny is that ever since I started drinking coffee at home I’ve been sleeping better. I’m perfectly aware correlation doesn’t equal causation but it’s still a funny correlation to draw.

Realistically, it’s just the thing where for some reason I sleep better when my schedule is flipped… but also realistically my vacuum cleaner isn’t actually haunted and yet the fucker has remained battery-less for like two or three days now.

I did the thing I’ve been doing every day to cope with the suspense of being unable to finish the paperwork and I was checking stuff related to it.

I wanted to confirm the deadlines the bank gave us and forgot that our company’s LEI was about to expire.

For those not aware, LEI or Legal Entity Identifier is basically a thing you get so you can do trading and whatnot. It’s relevant for us since we kept our funds in safe investments to stay ahead of inflation and whatnot. But since we were in the process of moving banks anyways I redacted a whole ass email instructing the bank to cash in all our investments since we weren’t gonna renew the LEI and I didn’t know if not renewing it would cause some dumb blockage by the time we decide to move our shit elsewhere.

It took a LOT of effort to not go and call them unresponsive cowards, so instead I just sent the email to every single point of contact in the bank we had. An email with like 7 recipients should send the message, I think.

Born to be a writer, forced to be a shrewd businessperson…

On that topic, I arbitrarily decided I would grow my beard and not shave until this shit is done. I’ve officially gone “Ingerland isn’t scorin’ some focking goals so the beard will remain until they do” mode.

After the sun came out a little I decided to take a long walk for fun and DQ Walk grinding purposes.

Curently I’m working towards unlocking my first Tier 3 classes. I originally spread the experience a bit broader since Tier 2 classes have a lot of permanent bonuses but I was quickly running into a bunch of content basically locked behind the firepower of Tier 3 classes, content that gives resources I can use back with Tier 2 stuff.

To give you an idea of the power escalation at play, some dungeons put the ideal requirements at “Tier 2 LVL80/Tier3 LVL35”. That is to say LVL 35 in Tier 3 is roughly equivalent to Tier 2 LVL 80… which is an extra interesting proposition considering that you only need to be LVL70 to meet the class requirements for Tier 3 (or the first of two requirements, at least).

Part of the power escalation is that Tier 3 classes get bonuses for themselves BUT ALSO they get any bonuses assigned to its constitutent classes. For example a Guardian needs someone to be LVL 70 as both Paladin and Superstar, so any bonuses assigned to Paladin or Superstar (be it in equipment or companion monsters) are applied to Guardian ON TOP of anything that’s Guardian-specific. This, as you can expect, makes leveling Tier 2 classes still an investment even deep in to Tier 3. The balance is that Tier 3 doesn’t have any of the EXP bonuses the others have. You don’t get the “Permanent 10% EXP to classes below X level bonuses and such”.

There’s other things like a stats tree that takes you in different paths dependant on equiping specific things, but that mechanic is still not clear to me.

There’s actually one T3 class that is derived from THREE different classes (though you only need 2 of them to unlock it). Not only that but it’s one of the classes that gets the Monster Wrangler “you’ve recruited this many monsters” bonuses. The drawback is that it provides zero bonuses to actually hatching or recruiting said monsters.

Anyway, roughly 20k steps later my party was level 65. It’s been a steady pace, I was lvl 62 when the week started.

I got some yakiniku, it was a harami set of 6 pieces where each piece had a different garnishing which was nice.

However, I remembered the words of a friend that… now that I think about it took me to that exact yakiniku place ages ago. He explained to me that the reason yakiniku sets are cheaper in relation to the main ones is basically that they use the… less prime cuts. They grab say… a whole block of harami, set aside the prime parts for regular orders and the rest for the lunch set that costs 1500 yen.

It’s still good, mind you, but you might get meat that’s slightly stiffer or more cartilage than meat, and so on.

I decided then to return home because… my battery was dying, I forgot my external battery, and also 20k steps.
