Today’s deck is the Eras Tarot.
It’s a Taylor Swift deck and I’m gonna be honest: I know nothing about Taylor Swift. In fact, it’s to the point where I can’t even say I have any opinions on her. I’ve sorta kinda seen in my periphery Discourse around her but what fucking doesn’t.
Last “recent” song I can remember listening to as it was new was Billie Elish’s Bad Guy. I just don’t keep up with music (even though I love music).
I know about promotional decks though, licensed or otherwise. And I can tell you that this one is SHOCKINGLY great in that category. For one it avoids the trappings of those decks where it’s just a series of mugshots. The minor arcana are all individual illustrations, and useability is all around great.
I’m not shocked because a Taylor Swift deck was good, but because decks that are tie-ins to something else are rarely this good. Only two I can think of that I’d call great are the Mage The Ascension deck and the… Sonic The Hedgehog one.
Anyway, today’s reading is reflecting a pattern of retaking my own independence.
This has quickly turned into one of those situations where I don’t even know what day it is anymore.
I wake up and it’s the 23rd. I’m hungry so I go get meat at Ikinari Steak, I barely think anything else and I’m already back home and crash asleep.
It is now midnight of Christmas Eve, lord know what my sleep schedule will become.
After waking up, feeling like I had enough idling time going on I decided to post the Christmas thing I prepared a day earlier.
Afterwards I decided to move stuff between rooms for a bit and open some figures while I was at it and that’s when I realized the funny detail that there’s three Cheerleader Nice Nature figures, which is extra noteworthy since they have such similar poses.
There were some payments I needed to make and one of them was via Western Union. To my surprise it was shockingly simple all in all because I just put the order and paid it in Lawson like any other conbini payment type thing.
Not today, but a detail I forgot to mention yesterday was that there was an Ichiban Kuji release for Cinderella Gray with some cool figures and I tried for once buying it straight from the Ichiban Kuji website and what a miserable experience man.
Basically they want to replicate the experience of buying the lottery tickets online by having “boxes” where you pick which tickets you want. It’s all fine and cute, I’m not gonna say no to giving experiences flavor… the problem is that if you want to just buy a whole set you gotta scour the whole thing for an untouched “box” since there’s no “just give me the whole set” option that I could find.
That’s the only Ichiban Kuji so far that I’ve not gotten through an Amazon reseller. Specifically there were a couple of people selling the big figures at an upmark but the whole point is that you have Ogurin and Tamamo running as teens but also baby Tama and Ogurin also running and nobody was selling the smaller ones dang it.
Anyway…
After this I was basically killing time until the regular banks opened since I needed to pay for a Wise transfer.
My account has like three different pins, only one of which I set myself and it’s always a coin toss which one I gotta use. But the real skill check was that… you know that thing where sometimes the keypads have 1 at the bottom and sometimes 1 is at the top?
Yeah I kinda inputted the number one way while the configuration was the other.
Twice.
When I went out of the bank I figured I should take the chance to walk for a bit and push my sleep schedule a bit further.
Weather is still Ass by the way.
I went to the doll shop real quick ’cause I wanted to get a couple of extra bases for the shoot. And not much else happened after I returned.
It’s kinda tricky to be in the Holiday mood when your body doesn’t even know which day it is, but hey.
