Allen, my nemesis

Today’s deck is the Fairytale Tarot.

It is exactly what it says it is, go figure.

Today’s reading felt like a warning to not get TOO comfortable just yet. Specifically with all the money stuff, while the whole process has been moving along, I’m technically not fully out of the weeds just yet. So I shouldn’t get TOO comfortable with expenses just yet.

Today’s main attraction was me building a desk from hell. In fact it’s such a main attraction that the day didn’t have much to point to otherwise.

I go to the office and unpack all the furniture I got in order to assemble it. The desk was the main focus since it’s so big. And it just fucking had to use fucking allen keys.

Allen keys are the ones that are basically for bolts with hexagonal heads, and I’ve had such bad luck with them that I literally carry an allen key sey on my backpack because I’ve had one too many moments of not having one at hand.

Just my luck this one had VERY TIGHT bolts and even with the set I carry with myself it was hell on my hands and the hardware store was closed so I couldn’t buy allen bits for my electric screwdriver.

Anyway, I open the instructions and decide that I want the configuration where the drawers of the desk are to my right, the manual basically repeats the instructions twice for each direction.

The process was a very tedious one in part because it’s one of those where the instructions go “make sure this microscopic bit is facing this way and not that way” which I, of course, don’t notice in time.

And fun fact! The bastards just copied the instructions for the left configuration! So after almost 2 hours of assembly if finally dawned on me that I built it wrong and I wasn’t gonna dissasemble it to fix that.

It’s not even because of the tediousness, it’s because I know myself and something could break in the disassembly.

Interestingly, it might’ve been a blessing in disguise. the configuration made me put the desk in a different spot and I then realized that the new spot gave me easier access to a power outlet.

Honestly though, the biggest lesson was to not start tasks when hungry.
