I come from a land of thunder

Today’s deck is the Cat Tarot.

Despite the generic name, the deck itself is anything but. It has cats that stand on their hindlegs and it’s all ancient Japan themed, super cool.

Today’s reading just reflects emotional exhaustion. IT’s nothing serious, though.

Right, so as you might expect, I had earthquakes on the mind.

I think I mentioned this one time, but I’ve got Serious Trauma related to shit happening while I’m asleep, and one of the things that built up that trauma was basically an earthquake that hit while I was in high school.

For years to come and to this day, if I feel my bed shake even a little bit I sleepdash out of bed and I wake up standing up outside of my room.

Yes, sleepdash. It happens less nowadays thankfully but I have some sleepwalking/sleeptalking issues, it’s like my brain is so high strung that it wants to act even during REM.

So anyways, I have all of that stuff in my mind and there was a thunderstorm.

Coming from a tropical country I don’t particularly mind thunder and lightning (it freaks me less than strong wind for whatever reason) but Japan has few enough of them that they startle me.

And as you might expect, thunder while thinking about earthquakes is one hell of a way to wake up.

But it’s Friday and Friday has its routines so out to Japanese lesson I went. It flew by fast talking about the earthquake but I resent the fact that the motherland has made Big International News twice the same year like this.

Then came bar as usual. One highlight of conversation was explaining the concept of chroma keying in order to talk about that one time some JP streamers played splatoon with porn playing that was Chroma key’d to the rivals’ ink color and if you got banned you lost.

An ojiisan that loves retro games latched onto me, you know he’s a real one because he told me his favorite company was nihon falcom and this man looked like the he was there for the OG Eiyuu Densetsu.

I did two shots of tequila and survived, not to mention I didn’t forget the night, so I’m assuming my liver is back to normal.

…doesn’t mean I’m gonna go crazy, but it means I can accept a Jose Cuervo shot or two… or three without much fear.
