Tsushima 2026 Day 3

Let’s regroup for a moment…

Today’s reading says that the key whenever it feels like I’m on my own and unable to do things is to fucking communicate.

I know that well and yet I tend to do things on my own anyways, so this is the cards calling me out.

Okay, I have supplies in my room to think clearly as I wake up at like 3AM.

Here’s the main thing to consider: I know enough Japanese that I can call a taxi, the problem is the pickup spot.

The benefit of a taxi app isn’t just that it saves you a call, but that the GPS can find you even if you’re in the middle of a random stretch of road.

Tsushima has plenty of interesting spots like an observatory where supposedly you can see Korea with the naked eye, but with this limitation I’m reluctant to go too far away.

So for the time being I honed in on a beach I can walk to and the supermarket I went to yesterday is on the way back so I COULD pinpoint them to pick me up there.

The hotel’s restaurant was also closed today for whatever reason.

I left at like 3PM, the sort of time where it’s still hot but the sun isn’t blasting full force in my face.

On the way to the beach I also saw other restaurant’s closed, I wonder if it’s a Monday thing.

A right turn after a pachinko parlor and I’m… by a park? The beach is apparently further in. First I took some pics with Akane on the Square-like area they had and the floor was super slippery. There’s some sort of water leakage that I couldn’t for the life of me pinpoint.

I keep walking in past some sports courts and I finally make it to the beach.

It was super pretty and also kinda desolate. The only people were me, two girls having a grand ol’ time on their own, the maintenance ojiisan that announced the showers were closing as soon as I got there (and who showed some interest in the pics I was taking), and an older couple on their way out.

I forgot to mention, but these pics were taken with the new setup I’ve been trying.

I was done kinda fast and started walking back. I checked a small mall nearby (as much to cool off in the AC as anything else) and made it to the supermarket where I resupplied.

Now. At this point I was kinda tired and I felt like I wasn’t thinking clearly so I did something funny.

There was a steep concrete slope (the kind where it’s not quite a wall). I leaned on it and ate the sushi I got at the supermarket moments ago.

This move cleared my mind enough to go to one of the nearby pharmacies and call a cab… and then call another company after the first one told me their service didn’t get there.

That would be another issue to consider, if I went to a different chunk of the island I’d have to know which company to call.

But anyways, I went back to the hotel and called it a day.
