To Hakone we gooooooo

In the spirit of the season, today’s deck is the Horror Tarot.

It’s… exactly what you’d expect and it’s fine in that. My only complaint is that the deck was a little bit bent which made shuffling slightly cumbersome.

Mind you it’s the printing sort of bending that you also see with TCG cards rather than any mechanical bending.

Today’s reading actually had me pose a question: “How will my Hakone trip go?”

Reversed Justice doesn’t tell me anything too specific at a glance, so let’s use the other two cards it emanates as the point of reference.

The World and Two of Pentacles. “Your goal awaits you as long as you manage to balance your priorities”.

Perhaps it refers to unfairness of some sort?

I woke at around 4am. Plenty of time to relax before I take on the trip. I had everything set aside anyways just had to chuck it into my luggage.

I did, however, also pack this other doll I got a while back with silicone body. Not sure if I’ll take her outdoors but I wanted to at least give it a try while I’m in a nice room.

I had to wait anyways because the day woke up super rainy. Maybe that’s the unfair thing the card is warning me about?

I went to a conbini to get something to light to eat and the microwave had me stuck an embarrassing amount of time trying to make it work.

I also found my vlog camera and oh God it still has stuff from like… April. I should get to uploading those videos eventually. I looked uploading the test one I did.

After faffing about for enough time I ended up leaving the house with relatively nice weather.

When I bought the Shinkansen tickets I made sure to take the one that would get me directly there with no transfers because I really don’t feel like running today, I’d rather wait a little bit longer if it means no transfers. I also bought a bento before boarding. Basically the same one I got a while back with different types of rice.

Then around Kyoto the guy that reserved the seat besides me boarded. He was smelly. But I need you to understand that when I say that I mean that the guy had very slight BO from a lack of deodorant but also had a lot of perfume.

So he was smelly. God, bad, there was smell and there was a lot. And it was driving me kinda crazy.

Maybe THAT’S the unfair part?

As the Shinkansen passed by Shizuoka I remembered a couple of things.

The first was my idea of making a train road trip in September. Which obviously didn’t come to pass, though I wonder how hard it would be as a new years thing.

I was actually thinking ever since going to Aomori about taking a ferry to Hokkaido or Okinawa. Probably the former because winter.

Sidenote, I keep forgetting Okinawa’s name for some reason.

Anyway, the other thing I was remembering was that I filmed myself trying to walk the Dougashima Tombolo so I’m sure that footage is basically me almost tripping and falling constantly.

Man, I don’t regret doing that especially because I came out the other side with a cool story but holy shit that was a lot.

I keep saying that I’m too old to do dumb reckless shit and yet I only do more of those as I get older.

I finally get out and of course sensory overload guy gets down on the same station.

I take a cab and there were so many cool spots on the way. One in particular that got me slightly upset I couldn’t stop at was an abandoned service station type building. Just the rusted abandoned structure on the side of the road.

So many bridges too.

There’s this place in Venezuela called La Colonia Tovar. If you go there from Caracas it’s a simple enough ride, but from the side of my hometown it’s one hell of a steep mountain road. I bring this up because the smell of brakes always brings me back to that road, similar to how the smell of gasoline brings me back to taking a ferry in summer vacations.

I finally make it to the hotel and I had to wait for a while to check it because the registry committed self-righteous suicide, no wonder it was all on disorder,.

The system was down. They had to take my details on paper.

Despite that setback, I made it to my room and I was starving. So I go make a reservation for the hotel restaurant. The problem is that I was to wait two hours and I was starving so I go to my beloved seven eleven for some snacks.

But by then I was falling asleep hard so I canceled the reservation and called it a day.
