Today we continue the pattern with the Jack-O’-Lantern Tarot.
The illustrations are loyal to a fault to the theme, my usual complaint of asymmetrical backs applies, but surprisingly it’s only asymmetrical vertically while symmetry is kept horizontally. They were SO CLOSE.
Today’s reading feels like it was speaking to the things ahead in the day, so I’ll address them as they come.
I woke up at 4am and I was so out of it that I completely forgot for a moment I was in a hotel and jolted awake in surprise.
As I was getting my shit together I checked the weather and got spooked because it was like 10 degrees and I had no jacket. Because why would I? It was like 20 degrees yesterday.
Thankfully when I went out to get breakfast and a Google Play card because the gacha with Bubblegum Fellow ends today it wasn’t as bad. Part of it is that it wasn’t windy and part of it was that the average heattech shirt from uniqlo shouldn’t be underestimated.
Since the weather looked like it was gonna be rough today, I decided to take some pics with Nadeshiko on a tree stump outside the hotel. And even then I was cutting it kinda tight with the rain picking up.
After having a therapy session, it became breakfast hour and oh my God these were some of the best grilled veggies I’ve had in my life. I always complain about hotel breakfast being dry as hell and… this one isn’t fully free from that allegation but it’s still amazing.
Afterwards I was in my room and finding enough time in my hands I finally called my family for a videochat.
I speak with them every day mind you, but I hadn’t sat down for a proper video call since… I wanna say last year but I might be wrong.
And that’s the first card of today’s spread: The Four of Wands. A return to those you love in some way. The funny thing is that I tend to write these posts after the fact based on notes I take through the day so it’s not even like I remembered the card was in today’s reading when I did it.
I was gonna head out and then I took the chance that it was that gap between check out time and check in time to take some pics in the Halloween Rickshaw outside. I was officially happy with the amount with this outfit and (if the conditions didn’t improve) with today’s general output.
By the way apparently Rickshaw is like Honcho in that it’s a Japanese word stylized in English a certain way. In this case it’s meant to be 人力車, jinrikisha, literally “human-powered car”.
It was then that I decided to take a stroll, rain be damned. The only caveat is that I was kinda stuck to only using my phone since one hand was gonna be preocuppied with an umbrella.
I found this one temple called Suwa Temple which reminded in name about Suwako from Touhou.
The stairs were slippery because of the rain so I had to be slow and careful and what did I say about not doing dumb things a couple of days ago?
Yeah.
Right as I entered, some sort of crane flew away and that felt super mystical.
I left an offering and then started going back.
Right about then was when I managed to find an abandoned building. A lowkey goal of mine for this trip was to find some of those for… some reason.
It’s not like Osaka doesn’t have them, but the world fair shenanigans has had them “cleaning up” any old or abandoned structures for a while now.
Back in the hotel I took some pics but I’ll upload them as a set later.
This is the point where the next card of today’s reading comes in: The King of Pentacles. A sign of someone wealthy and willing to use and share that wealth.
Read: I decided to splurge on the hotel’s restaurant for the most expensive course.
It was so worth it, they even adjusted the recipes for my lactose allergies.
Then last card, the Five of Wands (stalemate and conflict) comes into play right around the part where I was way too full and had to bail out early. They were even like “was the steak not to your liking?” and I didn’t have the vocabulary to express “it’s one of the best things I’ve eaten but if I eat one more bit I will literally explode”.
So food coma for me it is. Not a bad way to end a day.
By the way, wordpress acted up all day. Something about the wifi made it nope itself off constantly and I can’t help but wonder how related this is to whatever has the hotel system down (still down as of today).
