Today’s deck is the Tarot Euskal Mitikoa, AKA the Basque Mythical Tarot.
Anyone remember when I talked about the Gran Tarot Mistico a few weeks ago? In that one I mentioned that the author of that deck made two other decks that were quite rare. This is one of them.
The Basque (Vascos for my fellow Spanish Speakers) are, grossly to oversimplify, to the Spain/France area what the Celts are to the UK area. There’s obviously more to it but the point is to give you an idea of the theme going on here.
Today’s reading advises that Luxury and prosperity lie behind goals that involve breaking cycles.
There isn’t one specific thing this brings to mind, but I feel very compelled to keep it in mind for some reason, so there’s likely something it’s resonating with, just not on the forefront of my brain…
Lazy day, still snowing a bit
I’m planning how to return, all buses left from 1PM onwards, eventually I asked reception to reserve a cab for me that took me to a nearby station where I could then go to Nagano Station.
Even beyond the fact that I don’t like waiting upwards of 5 hours while carrying all my luggage, there’s the logistics of carrying luggage on a snow road.
In the end, I decided to just take it easy in the room, I went to get dinner at the ski resort but sadly they didn’t have the pulled pork over fries……… though they had fries AND pulled pork so what the hell.
In fact, I was so in the mood of “let’s pack up and take it easy” that I decided to save today’s Outfit for Tama for next time and took some pics with a babydoll.
Also here’s a fun comparison of what the flash can do for the lighting.
All in all I’m happy with the trip. Even the small incident with getting locked out (“small” he says about six hours) is a nice conversation piece. My three takeaways this time are:
- Don’t forget a smaller lens next time, though the iPhone wasn’t playing games.
- Get a different jacket or the waterproof spray for next time
- DON’T FORGET TO MAKE A RESERVATION FOR THE TRAINS IN ADVANCE
Oh also, I’ve been going through a book called Disney War by James B Stewart.
I’m not really the biggest fan of Michael Mouse (I always gravitated more towards Looney Tunes), but the thing is that learning about the biggest corporations or industry examples has the side effect of making you go “wait, X exists because they got screwed over???”.
For example, Power Rangers and other Fox-related kids shows happened after Disney pulled the plug on their cartoons being on Fox networks.
It’s like D&D. Do I like D&D? Not really no, gun to my head World of Darkness speaks louder to me.
But I love media history and to learn about the Gauls you gotta learn about the Romans.
If that’s wrong somehow, be warned that I only know Gauls because of Asterix.
