Nation of Hiber

Today’s deck is Luna’s Rascal Tarot so I’m going to geek out about anime history and you can’t do anything about it.

The “Rascal” of this deck is actually the same as in Araiguma Rascal or Rascal The Racoon, a 1977 anime by Nippon Animation based on the kid’s book Rascal: A Memoir of a Better Era by Sterling North in 1963.

“Gee that sure is a wild thing to adapt” you might think and that’s because Rascal is part of the famous World Masterpiece Series. The same series that brought shows like Moomin and Heidi (my fellow Latin Americans will now get why it’s a big deal). In fact, Rascal was part of the batch that created A Dog of Flanders and Marco, 3000 Leagues in Search for Mother (infamous tearjerkers in Japan and Latin America specifically).

In fact some of you might’ve actually seen Rascal without knowing if you’ve ever seen this specific Racoon peeling a banana because it’s right there with “Moomin gets a lightning strike in his crotch” as Japanese netizen go-to images.

What about the deck? It’s Luna Factory man, it’s top quality, no notes.

Today’s reading meanwhile, basically says “your success will be in jeopardy if you don’t realize you’ve accomplished things to begin with”.

Coincidentally, the other day I was talking with N and reminiscing about how for the longest time I didn’t let myself enjoy the fruits of my labor because to do so would be asmitting that I’m done or something dumb like that. It’s dumb because if you work for the carrot but deny yourself the carrot all you get is stick.

I didn’t spend much time playing any games today, it was more of a “do a bunch of smaller tasks around the house” sort of day. Scrubbed the toilet but not the rest of it, washed some dishes, washed some clothes, moved stuff here and there, shaved my legs.

Well, that last one is less of a chore than it sounds, I don’t usually razor shave my legs, I use a body trimmer so that they’re visibly less hairy. I have very thin hair and body hair so that definitely helps matters.

I did, however, send some stuff to my accountant for tax filings which took up a lot of brainpower but as far as I’m concerned gives the right to go gremlin mode for a couple of days.

I’ve been feeling kinda guilty for laying low the past week and change, like, compared to how active I tend to be, going out and whatnot, I’ve been staying inside more which made me feel like I was lazy, but then I remembered not just how hectic the whole of last year was, but also how hectic this year might be and the guilt vanished a bit.

I will be running around the moment weather warms up ever so slightly, so I might as well make sure I don’t have one more year of mess piling up in my apartment by then.
