Today’s deck is the Mystical Manga Tarot.
The illustrations didn’t quite connect with me, sadly. I wouldn’t even call it a matter of quality or preference it just… didn’t click proper.
That said, it reminded me of how a couple of weeks ago, a topic on Japanese Twitter was them finding out that The Last Airbender was considered “anime” by some in the US and nobody getting why because to them it looks very different from anime stuff.
I actually only found out about it because a couple of people commented how they were shocked to learn that VA-11 Hall-A was NOT Japanese.
Today’s reading was a tricky one. I saw both hesitation and recklessness, and in this context The Lovers seemed more like it was about indecision than the past readings about self-love.
And so I pulled an extra card to ask for clarification and it made things clearer.
“You’re afraid of following your own whims, you’re worried you’ll lose control, and this has led to choice paralysis.”
By the way, I’ve been writing these readings in a journal, which is why I’ve skipped some of the reading steps lately, I should probably start posting the pages though.
Before this I tried to do a reading with a replica of the historical Sola Busca Tarot but I quickly realized that it would be tricky so I just perused it and put it aside.
Today’s lesson in the 31 days book continues the pattern about minor arcana suits and THE FUCK YOU MEAN PENTACLES ARE THE ONES THAT ARE ASSOCIATED WITH EARTH?!
THERE’S A WHOLE SUIT ABOUT LITERAL BRANCHES AND STICKS AND YOU’RE TELLING ME THE FUCKING COINS ARE THE EARTHLY ONES?!!!!
It’s worth noting how the book opens up with the “feminine” elements because the more I read it the more it feels made for suburban moms getting into tarot.
There’s nothing bad with that and honestly it doesn’t even affect the quality, but it’s a thing that I keep noticing, like it slips through the cracks almost.
Today was uneventful almost by design. I didn’t know if I’d hear back from the current Visa back and forth so I tried to forget about and take it easy.
For the time being I went to get sushi at my favorite Genroku Sushi in Umeda and just walked around for a bit.
Then I just zoned out, playing games or sorting things through my apartment. The two most notorious things were me carving something that looks like a super basic effigy and also that apparently the batteries in my kitchen stove (the ones that power up the sparky thingy to stat the fire) ran out (at least I HOPE that’s what happened) so I had to get creative with the oven to cook.
I stopped myself from buying a kitchen lighter so many times because “why would I need it?” and THIS, THIS IS WHY I’D NEED IT.
The sad thing is that I had big batteries, but the stove needs like… BIGGER batteries.
I should make time to fix the photobook I’m gonna sell on October 6th, now that I think about it, don’t want the printing deadlines to hit me…
