Today’s deck is the Charming Cat Tarot.

It certainly lives up to its name, the print style did make shuffling it a tad too stiff for my taste, though.
Today’s reading brings portents of moving on from the Bad Times, but warning that it doesn’t mean I should get TOO comfortable and lower my guard.

I TECHNICALLY first woke up at like 9AM, and I COULD have gotten out of bed then, but also, there’s really no reason today to be in such a hurry so back to sleep I went and I woke up at 5PM.
By the way, I’ve got a dentist appointment at 11AM so we’ll see how much of a zombie I am at that point.
After the usual start of day routine I got to copying discs and today’s firsts are ENSON volumes 2 and 3.

…I’m sure I have 1 somewhere….
ANYWAY. ENSON is basically Masaki Endoh’s covers of various anime songs.
If you don’t know who Masaki Endoh is… honestly, that’s to be expected. Outside of JAM Project, he’s what I’d call a Tier 2 anime song singer.
“Tier 2” is not meant to be derogatory of Endoh nor the anime he’s involved in though, the tiers are just how recognizable the property might be.
Tier 0 is the names that you’ll recognize even if you’ve never seen anime. For example, it’s hard for a random Joe Shmoe to know who Rika Matsumoto is, but tell them “she sang the pokemon theme song in Japan” and even if they imagine a Japanese cover of “I wanna be the very best” or whatever the official name is, they’ll get an idea.
Tier 1 is “people kinda into anime or near anime circles know about it”. This is where I put any Jump manga after it gets an anime. Pick anything you see every patreon artist draw and OF cosplayer cosplay that’s not a gacha game and that’s it.
Tier 2 meanwhile is “pivotal if you know their genre”. Masaki Endoh has sung the theme songs for GaoGaiGar, Abaranger, and even Boonboomger recently. If you know sentai or Super Robots you already know him, if not it’s a bit harder to get.
For those curious, Tier 3 is “you need to be a nerd/sicko to know them” like Cyberteam in Akihabara, and Tier 4 is “how the fuck do you know this?” like Doto Koni-chan.
Back to the albums, what’s great about them is that they’re the sort of cover that doesn’t overlap with the original. A good example is Sketch Switch from Hidamari Sketch.
Incidentally, I was talking yesterday about songs I can’t find anywhere and that’s not 100% true. Usually if a song is juuuuuust known enough there will be someone that makes a cover that’s shockingly close to the original and props to them… but also the fact that I’m listening to them just because the original isn’t in the platform does make me resent them juuuust a little bit through no fault of their own.
Speaking of ENSON, the albums didn’t show up in the automatic ID thingy that iTunes has which is odd because ENSON IS in all of the platforms including iTunes.

Up next is the Wild Arms 2 OST and this one is yet another oddity.
CD1 made iTunes freeze, then turns out it has like 75 tracks but most of them are less than 1 minute. Then CD2 has Resistance Line (the opening) in full, while CD1 only had the short version of Donna Tokidemo Anata Wa Hitori Ja Nai… but THEN CD2 also has a bunch of mixes and medleys of specific songs nonstop.
In the process I remembered I don’t have a CD for Wild Arms XF so I fixed that.
Next I brought out the actual sicko stuff.

I discovered Doki Doki Majo Shinpan because I came across a porn parody flash game as a teen and eventually discovered (thanks to a doujinshi with the characters from said “mysterious” flash game) that it was from an actual game on the DS.
And of course, iTunes immediately knew this one.
At this point I keep less track mainly because I started multitasking. I FINALLY cleaned up my kitchen a bit and dear God, all the gunk…
It wasn’t SUPER disgusting because it was all dried gunk… BUT THAT’S THE PROBLEM PRECISELY. IT’S ALL DRIED GUNK!!
I also loaded the dishwasher and the washing machine a couple of times. I’ll admit it’s a bit of a gamble because I’ll either exhaust myself or hyperfocus will keep me awake…
The veredict? It all helped, but it’s more a matter of me being more naturally tired than exhausted from doing something. So I had to reschedule my dentist appointment.
Thankfully I’m not putting to the side something crazy like fixing a tooth, it’s just the regular checkup.
