Today’s deck is The Little Sister Tarot.

Deck’s neat but I kept thinking “then where’s the Big Daddy Tarot?”.
HAHA! Gamer joke.
Today’s reading is basically saying “don’t get so stressed over things where people can help you” which is legit a good reminder to have even from a random spread of cards.

Did you know profits in Japan are basically taxed 50%?
So let’s say you have a shop, and that shop recorded a profit of 6000 USD. The way it works is that out of those 6000, 3000 will be set aside for taxes BUT THEN you take into account Tax Deductables. So if you spent a total of 1500 in travel accomodations, dinners, and supplies, then the taxed amount will be 1500 instead.
That’s why big Japanese companies always organize nomikai (drink meetups) regularly, or have a company vacation, or send employees via shinkansen to do some menial task half a country away. Because it’s all stuff that will mean less of their profit is eaten by Da Taxes.
Fun fact: A deduction can also be calculated if you have a register of how much work any given employee has done, which is why they’re also so picky about clocking in and out of an office even through telework.

ANYWAY, today I was in talks with my accountant to consider our options with the bank bullshit and I was remembering those bits. Specifically the fact that those two bits of information make everything about the… business ecosystem in Japan make SO much sense suddenly.
Also related to that, a fun phenomenon I’ve seen is that I see a bunch of guys near the station with backpacks being rowdy and it legitimately takes me a while to parse if I’m looking at adult office workers or schoolkids.
Sometimes I wonder how they might feel, moving from school into an office and it all being basically the same environment in a way.

I wouldn’t know, when I did my internship in college I had a panic attack and felt so miserable that I decided I would rather starve to death than work in any environment similar to an office (or *for* others, for that matter).
I’m thankful things have worked out so far because, let me tell you, that conviction hasn’t gone anywhere.
The accountant talk was boring AND confidential so I’ll skip ahead to when I was on my way back and stopped by another pharmacy. They gave me the same “there’s a shortage” speech as the last one, but they told me they’d request it and to come back tomorrow so let’s just hope it goes through.

Outside of that I did some cleaning, my kitchen counter is freed up and clean for the first time since… since I moved in, honestly.
