Drinking until down under

Today’s deck is the Tarot of the Ruins.

It’s super interesting because it’s supposed to have a general theme of dreams and ruins, but the color palette (which is super consistent through all the cards, may I add) gives it a vibe of old buildings that have been painter over and over again which is super cool.

Today’s reading is funny because right after I finished yesterday’s post going “man I’m so fucking tired about the bank stuff not finishing yet” and being on the verge of calling them by phone to pester them directly, a different relationship manager goes “okay I’m taking over this, please send me the information to confirm”.

Anyway, today’s reading is a reflection of that bittersweet relief of “it’s gonna be over…” with a tinge of all the bitterness that cropped up as a result on the way there.

I had one of those “visit” dreams I write about sometimes. In this one the visit was from my childhood dog and another one of my dogs that died a couple of years ago. I remember back when I left for Japan on the trip where I didn’t return to Venezuela that I told the latter to look after everyone so in the dream I was thanking her for doing so.

The location is also noteworthy because it’s my parent’s house’s backyard, where the two of them are buried.

Shockingly rather than sad or anything else I woke up refreshed. Which is EXTRA shocking just on the principle of having a good sleep nowadays.

I was feeling in the mood to visit Believe x Believe today, so I spent the start of the day actually unpacking my luggage and, more importantly: Finally testing the pickles.

So the veredict so far is something like this:

Broccoli + Cauliflower: Overdid it with either the salt or the vinegar, also next time I should let them boil inside the jar for a bit before refrigerating.

Carrot + Bell Pepper: Predictably good, but the carrots lose a lot of their charm when only the outer layer is used. I should know this, I’ve known that since I was a child.

Carrot + Daikon: Godlike, amazing, Oh My God how have I lived life without this.

I haven’t tried the eggplant one yet because I’m deliberately letting it sit a bit longer.

Anyway, I packed a couple of souvenirs and left for the bar. I actually arrived kinda early so I was the only client. Someone else dropped by but they were looking for something a bit more active.

That’s how I learned that (as I’ve indeed seen), the area by Dotombori and Namba has more mix bars on the whole. Also apparently Believe x Believe opened a branch in Sapporo and I’m so sad I didn’t catch that while there.

Oh well, if I do go again as I mentioned there’s a plan there, I guess.

I met someone new from the staff, Haku, and immediately started talking about travelling. You know, I don’t tend to think about it as a hobby (more as coping mechanism for stress which… saying out loud is what hobbies tend to be) but I always find myself so excited not just talking about where I’ve been but being told about other cool places to be.

Three foreigners from Australia dropped by and things got really fun. Alcohol was flowing, anecdotes were being shared, I was told to record a message that the bar opened in Spanish. I even made tentative plans to go with them to a different club later in the week!

I had to cut the drinks because I was already not feeling my legs, but the trains stopped so I took a cab. I stayed up having some food and drinking some water just to let the worst of the booze pass.

The consequences will most definitely hit me tomorrow, but it was a fun day on the whole so I’ll gladly pay the toll.
