Today’s deck is The Official Sonic™️ The Hedgehog Amy Rose’s Fortune Card Deck.

Saw this one in a Wario64 post if I remember right.
Me and Sonic don’t gel along. I don’t have any strong feelings or well-articulated reasons though. I’ve tried all my life to like it and for some reason I don’t. bit of a shame because my three most distinct “pre-Mario on a bootleg NES” memories are: This one edutainment game called Panda y Danta that I cannot find anywhere, Wolfenstein 3D, and an arcade with Sonic 2 with a super buggy VS mode in a cabin resort’s lobby in Merida when I was like 4-5.
This deck might be the one time I lament not liking Sonic as much because the deck is SO Good. Not just in terms of quality but the presentation. Every card has their name on the reversed form and the manual describes them as “Hero Draw” and “Dark Draw” with some cards even having illustrations that properly reverse. There’s also some real care put into the cards and the manual acknowledges which is which in a normal deck.
It might, no joke, be the best thematic deck I’ve used since starting this blog. I might not vibe with Sonic but mad respect to (some) Sonic fans, especially if they run the asylum.
As for today’s reading? It speaks of reconcilliation from disconnects and pain. To me it feels like it’s talking about all the healing one might have from “I know people that would like me enough to wanna hang out in my house for a while”.

As it’s often the case, after being awake for almost 24 hours, I sleep for a shockingly short amount of time precisely due to crashing out so hard.
E was asleep and I had time on my hands so I figured hey there’s an extra mouth in the house which means less risk of food spoiling, so let’s make some proper pasta and sauce.
In particular I decided I wanted to try caramellizing some onions. I was never able to so looking up why the fuck I couldn’t I learned the reason.
Cook them slow.
No two guesses as to why I failed in the past.
Every fucking recipe you see makes it sound like it’s done in like 5 minutes but it took me almost a fucking hour.

Also God Damn, that shit SHRANK.

I was really proud of the end result though. The main tragedy was actually that I cooked too much pasta and it absorbed any leftover water in the pot so it ended up really REALLY soggy to the point of inedible.
Painful mistakes that will be learned from.
As I was sorting things, one of my main priorities later was to free up the main hallway so a main transit area wasn’t… a trap. In the process I finally unboxed the Steam Cleaner and oh my God how have I lived so long without this.

You see, the main thing that gets me is the amount of CONTROL you get with it. Part of why I haven’t cleaned and used wax on the floor since forever is that there’s way too much prep involved in the process. I gotta make sure nothing’s on the ground, cover things I don’t want splashed and so on.
The Steam cleaner meanwhile allows me to basically have a mop without all the extra splashing a mop usually entails.
I will eventually have to use a mop, mind you, but it’s a great way to loosen up the layers of depresso gunk and maybe apply maintenance every so often.
Main obstacle really is that because it gets hot handling it isnot something as casual as a mop. I haven’t gotten burned (yet) but there’s enough components that get hot to make me wary.

As for E visiting it’s been a delight so far. I chat with her almost every day anyways so it’s like… the same but with less than half a planet of proximity.
