Today’s deck is the Tarot of White Cats
Imagery is beautiful, cards are great quality, I love the fact that it has different languages in the borders.
I take umbrage with the lack of black cats, but you know what? Not a deal breaker. In fact, I might add this to rotation too.
Today was one of those Oops All Reverse days, but the result is super interesting.
“Healing, healing from your own inner critic, releasing all of that tension.”
Feels good to have efforts validated by cards not gonna lie.
Day 2 of the Biddy Tarot 31 day program is about choosing your tarot deck. As much as I jabbed yesterday the fact that they told you to pay for more stuff, I do appreciate the idea of “think about this and then we can talk about buying a deck”.
The advice is good too. It tells you to look for the one you vibe with the most, it also points out that not all decks have the same imagery and that you might vibe more with more modern decks where the imagery is more current.
It makes me think of how I decided the two extra cards in the centennial Waite-Smith are now my personal “artist Arcana” and how you don’t see decks for artists specifically. There’s cards that can apply to it obviousloy but there’s something to be said about decks that cater to specific crowds.
It also has practical advice like minding the quality considering you’ll be shuffling the bastards for years.
It also mentions to be aware of the difference between Tarot and Oracle decks which was something I was curious about and never got to look up. Basically an Oracle deck is more focused on the broader energy and concept while the tarot can be more specific.
It points out that one isn’t necessarily superior, it’s just different and it IS a book about Tarot specifically. But it even comments that supplementing Oracle with Tarot is not unheard of.
Sounds interesting, not gonna lie.
Today’s activity is getting a deck. I uh… I got that covered Boss don’t you worry.
By the way, as I write this, THE CHAIR IN THE HOTEL ROOM DOESN’T SPIN WHAT THE HELL.
First the teensy toilets that make your dick rub against the ceramic, then the slow as fuck internet in the morning, then the fridge that BARELY keeps drinks Not Lukewarm, and now this…
And did I mention last night there was fucking construction right outside the building? IN FACT my route to get to Tokyo Station was slower today because I had to go a big way around another construction.
I did take the chance to pay for my monthly Fantia tab on a conbini on the way at least.
When I arrived to Akihabara one of the first things I saw was AN AD FOR PLANETARIAN
WHAT YEAR IS IT
I met up with E and K and we ate at Yakiniku Fukuju near the station. It was an All You Can Eat style affair which was nice. One of the dishes was octopus and I thought it would be like… a chunk of octopus tentacle but NO IT WAS A WHOLE SMALL OCTOPUS.
I mean less impactful than the shrimp so fresh it was walking away while I ate it, but that’s a story for another day.
We walked around in the general direction of BEEP Akihabara and a small misunderstanding happened. In short, E suggested we divide so that K can look for camera lenses. K agreed and before that was going to take some photos.
I didn’t hear that, E didn’t hear that, cut to K wondering where we went before long.
It wasn’t a big deal and we ended up doing that anyways, but better clatrify face to face.
BEEP Akihabara is always cool, at some point they got an original disc of Tsukihime that included a coupon where, if you presented it to them on the next Comiket, you’d get a discount getting the Far Side routes (basically the game released with half of its content).
E has been on the lookout for retro computers and I cannot for the life of me find old computer shops anywhere. In fact, I’m low-key obsessed now out of curiosity alone on the question of “where the fuck do you get retro computer hardware?”
Not retro games, COMPUTORS.
We reconvened and rested on the UDX stairs. Then went to Radio Kaikan and a miracle happened. For the best part of two years I’ve been on the lookout for this Network Server gashapon for E and we finally found it.
Then we killed time in Don Quijote. E got souvenirs and I got Hachauna stickers so now Machan protects me like the Virgin Mary.
We ate at Royal Host and I went to the hotel.
I was pounding about staying the next day in Tokyo but every but of mental math tells me it’s better to go back so back we go.
For today’s tangent, I have the weirdest associations wired inside my brain sometimes.
One of my favorite Hitomi Tanaka movies (aside from the one with Anri Okita) is this one where she visits a college and it’s framed like one of those Japanese variety shows. The idea being that she’s visiting it as a prize of sorts.
The first guy is wearing a jersey and sweatpants and I have similar sweatpants so my brain decided that or of all the possible things to associate with that movie, it’s those sweatpants that cause a very pavlovian reaction on me.
They’re not even that comfortable! They’re a tad too tight and I actually mean the legs, not the crotch area after the association kicks in.
