Today’s deck is the Pre-raphaelite Tarot.
I’ll let my inner art nerd out for a moment. Pre-Raphaelite was a movement in the 19th century that sought to return to how things were in art around the late 1400s.
BAsically, Raphael and Michaelangelo of TMNT fame revolutionized art and painting with their use of perspective and whatnot. All the weird pre-renaissance paintings with odd perspective are from before them. But the Pre-Raphaelites sought to salvage that specific era’s use of bright and vivid colors and intricate detail over the more “muted” style the Mannerists normalized.
This deck isn’t a collection of PRe-Raphaelite illustrations but rather illustrations made in that style, it’s pretty cool
Today’s reading, in short is just reflecting the weight of having been very social lately.
More alcohol in the menu today! Another bar that I was invited to and couldn’t make it. This one is horseracing-themed.
Here’s a quick explanation before that, though.
So there’s bars which I assume we all know, and then there’s Girl Bars where the gimmick is that you have someone in the staff be your drinking companion (think bunny garden), in the middle of these two there’s Concafes or “Concept Cafes” which despite the name are usually bars.
Concafes are drinking establishments with staff usually themed around a topic (for example, I’ve seen stuff like a “mind control”-themed one). It IS customary in bars in general to share a drink with the staff (the first one, if nothing else) but it’s not like Girl bars where that’s the intent.
Point being this one, Idol Horse, is a concafe but despite the name having “cafe” it’s mostly a bar (though you can get a bunch of soft drinks if you want).
The ambiance was nice. The group I went to had gone before (or at least one of them did, someone in the staff even recognizing them) but there was the usual conversation about oh what do they like overseas and whatnot.
Then I think they had some race in the screen which prompted me to bring up Admire Terra’s whackass jockeyless victory last year and the horseracing nerd in me that’s stronger than I initially thought just activated.
The ambiance was nice enough in fact that after the group decided to go to dinner I figured I’d stay and chat. I was having fun.
So much fun I forgot I had a dentist appointment.
Couple of drinks in and I’m waking up in my bed.
