Se acerca la tormenta

Today’s deck is the Magicians, Martyrs, and Madmen Tarot.

The funnest part of this whole hobby to me is basically coming across all manner of topics for decks. Especially ones like this where it’s nothing crazy but it leaves you like “Huh, I guess…”

Today’s reading feels like the cards patting me on the back. “You feel stuck and unable to move on, but that’s because an established order of things (read: bureaucracy)” is holding things back.

Regular visitors of the blog (first of all: Thank you) will know that I tend to like songs that end up being unobtanium of some form. Be it trying to find official releases of Megaman X5’s opening song, or the Japanese intro of Rising Zan: The Samurai Gunman.

One such song that’s been driving me mad in the search is Ikuze! Ikkiman!!, the opening theme song of Go-Q Chouji Ikkiman, an 80s anime.

The prospect would be hard just because obscure anime from the 80s, but it’s made even harder by the fact that Ikkiman hasn’t gotten a rerelease of any kind on video. In fact, the closest I came to finding the song was seeing the OST IN VINYL.

Then in a random search of Ikkiman stuff I found a CD that actually has the song.

This is Seishun Rajimenia’s 20th Anniversary album. Seishun Rajimenia is basically an anison radio show from Radio Kansai. This specific CD, fittingly, includes “lost” songs requested by viewers, including the themes of Microman, Ganbare Gonbe, Space Sagittarius and a bunch of names I’m now intrigued by.

How fitting of a place to find it in, really.

Feeling encouraged/lucky with that find I tried to find another piece of music that’s been stuck in my head for years. One of the insert songs of Yamazaki King of the Class.

Interestingly, this one and all the others like the one sung by Ichiro Mizuki of Mazinger Z fame are all in the show’s 8cm CD single which is a SHOCKING amount of music for a format where the norm is to have like 3-4 songs at most.

Sadly I can’t find a proper version of the latin american dubbed version of the song (which titles this post, incidentally), but I did find a bit from one of the few episodes I remember clearly beginning to end (timestamped for a chunk of how the song was in the dub).

There’s something about the way the animals dance that I find very visually pleasing, dunno why.

Also man, I’ve been years removed from any latin american dub (even before moving to Japan) and while I will defend the quality to my grave, it’s like… the way people mocked how dubs SOUND makes perfect sense now, but before I was so knee-deep into them I didn’t really notice.

By the way, they sound like that because it’s the closest you can get to a non-specific accent when trying to appeal to a subcontinent where each country speaks a different flavor of Spanish.

As usual, I woke up with some built up anxieties so I went out for a stroll to also do DQ Walk stuff while at it. I got really sidetracked looking for caves and collecting things for an accesory but it was a nice stroll on the whole.

Having woken up as late as I did and with not much else to really do I decided to knock off some of the other stuff from the backlog of games I got while V was here.

Paizuri Clicker is self-explanatory but also your eyes do not deceive you, that is literally Coolkyou-sensei that illustrated it, which makes the fact that there’s a Komori and a Tohru costume all the more fascinating.

Breast Growth Clicker is ALSO very self-explanatory and more of a traditional clicker since the earlier one worked on a stamina system of sorts where you could only get so many points in one go.

Momoyama Productions released a small game. They’ve made a couple of neat puzzle games with pre-rendered CGs and movies. They’re very well made and also the style and atmosphere that comes from using pre-rendered CGs gives it this alluring-yet-eerie vibe I really dig.

奉仕人形との海の家での3日間 is not a puzzle game, though, It’s a simple VN where the premise is that you and the sex android you rescued on the first game and started living with in the second are on a short vacation. It’s really neat and my only complaint is that all the images are static, but even that complaint falls to the wayside when the clear intent was to make a short project.

On a sidenote, I’ve been toying for forever with the idea of making some porn game with only doll photographs. Mainly as a personal excercise. That idea hasn’t gone too far because of Time, but I’m realizing that what Momoyama Productions has been doing with the 3D models is effectively that and the idea of making something with a similar atmosphere in the process really adds motivation.

オチドル ー大好きな君は下衆な権力に腰を振るー is an NTR VN with sex sections in-between choices. The choices don’t change anything in the sex sections, though.

I wanna point out the models though. Not because they’re excellent, they’re fine, but rather because they’re not the usual ones I see in other games.

I have nothing against using stock or purchased assets when the games work at the scale they do on DLsite’s doujin section. In fact, there’s a certain comfort in seeing familiar maps? I know the stock castle map from RPG Maker like the back of my hand by now so it’s like going “ah, I know this, let’s see how this person changed it up, though”.

But just like with that example, it makes games that don’t reuse them or modify them all the more interesting.

I mentioned Yami-Yami City in another post and I recognized some of the model bases as ones I’ve seen sold on Pixiv Booth. They’re good but I see them so often the recognition paints my impression of the game. So seeing someone not use them, let alone try to use their own original or modified model is always worth pointing out and celebrating.

Also worth pointing out that while the tits and ass of the model have motion, none of the animations actively interact with them directly and that’s not really a criticism, it’s just me noticing a cut corner and nodding in understanding.

Since my sleep schedule is such a mess, I ended up staying awake until things started opening. I called to ask if there was any problem with my My Number application since it hasn’t arrived after supposedly being mailed on the 29th. Call because without the “come pick your stuff up” postcard I would’ve wasted a trip going to the municipality.

It hadn’t ocurred to me until that moment that maybe it’s taking a while because it’s being sent from a more central government thingy rather than the office 15 minutes away.
