The Bacchus Bar Mystery

Today’s deck is the Crystal Power Tarot.

Not bad, just not my cup of tea. I do find it curious that the package is in Japanese but the deck is in English though.

I’ve been getting The Fool a concerning amount of times lately, but at least now it’s upright instead of reversed. It indicates that a new thing is ahead and that basically the time to stop thinking like I’m poor has come with it.

So I was supposed to go to the dentist today.

As you might gleam from the past tense, that didn’t happen. The reason was that I THOUGHT the appointment was at 4 for some reason so as I get out of the shower at 3PM I see them calling me and realize I got it all wrong.

No problem on the whole, I just rescheduled for two weeks from now but I planned so much AROUND needing to do that that I’m a bit disappointed.

I had a different appointment not that long after though, so after chilling for a bit I went out and… had to make some calls.

So there’s this place called Tan To Harami in Umeda. It’s a specialty shop where the gimmick is that they specialize in beef tongue and harami (skirt steak). We went with a group of like 11 people total. Me, the two friends I’ve been hanging out with, and another friend plus his group.

It was fun, good food was had, but it wasn’t without its own set of complications.

First complication was that with such a big party we had to be moved to a different store branch. No problem, but then when I call the other store branch to make sure turns out they didn’t have the appointment, so I had to call the main one and ask What The Hell.

With that solved, I then proceed to go to the wrong shop. You see, last time I made a reservation there I made it accidentally on a different branch, so in my brain I was like “ok so it’s not the main one, it’s the other one”.

Turns out there’s a THIRD branch I wasn’t aware of until today.

Would it have been easier to just check Google Maps? Yeah!

So once in the shop there was a bit of confusion. Normally you get to pick a plan, a course where you choose a tier and then for a certain amount of time you can order whatever you want… not this time though, if I understand right we had to order and then pick the course (but with the noise and my still limited Japanese I MIGHT’VE been off).

However, it all worked out in the end. I forget the exact amount but the total was around 70.000 yen, and with 11 people that came to way less than the Gold Course individually.

Afterwards, the friend I’ve been hanging out with (let’s call her V to avoid further confusion) wanted to check a gay bar called Bacchus so we left looking for it.

We see the Bacchus sign.

We go to the floor with Bacchus.

There’s no Bacchus Bar… there was a Seventh Heaven, though.

The mystery is that there’s reviews from like a year before so either they’re full of bullshit or it closed super recently. It’s also not unheard of for business signs to not change for a long ass while. In fact, the Harami place near Shin Osaka that I still mourn because a completely different Hamburg Stak one last year and it still had the old sign on.

We followed another lead to a different Bacchus bar like two stations away from Osaka Castle and it was… Not It. But it was a fancy whiskey bar so hey.

They even had a bottle of Santa Teresa, I felt so proud to say how I come from the town where that’s brewed.

Despite the hurdles and mistakes, it was indeed a good day.
