The Old Woman Taunt

Today’s deck is the Adorable Cat Tarot (2024).

I’ll never say no to cutesy cats, and this one was apparently lightly used so it came pre-shuffled (though I shuffled it again anyways).

You know, Tarot tutorials and whatnot always talk about cleansing the “energy” off things like used decks or decks after heavy readings, but I’m honestly more of the kind that believes that said mixed energy is what gives it more power. It’s like a worn-out tool or well-loved item you’ve just acquired.

Today’s reading tells that to mantain the proverbial household is the way to pursue your dreams. Which feels relevant considering all the busywork I’ve been going through.

A lot of Wheel of Fortune lately, I’ve noticed.

I woke up seeing that crossover illustration of Frieren and the main character of “Downer nee-san wants to play” which set the day off to a good start.

The vaguely familiar artstyle and the obi of the volume made me think (wrongly) it was the same author of Dagashi Kashi, but I was wrong (and posting half-asleep).

That said, Yamataka Kei (the actual illustrator)clearly loves Corocoro magazine and it shows through.

It’s kinda funny that I had the confusion though, I think it’s the first time that an obi having a PR collab on it made me confused, usually there’s enough of a style gap that it doesn’t happen… then again, it IS in the author’s ballpark, it would be like me seeing a volume of Thus Spoke Myo-chan Sensei while half-asleep with an obi promoting that Nekomega made an end-of-volume panel for it.

My sleep-addled brain would go “brown hair, big tits, it’s Nekomega alright. Moving on…”

It’s been raining like a motherfucker all day, like, it’s not just a drizzle it’s “fuck you get splashed” rain, the building’s hallway is all wet which only happens when they’re cleaning it.

Speaking of building and cleaning, the apartment at the end of the hallway is either getting renewed or vacated, there’s been workers doing STUFF in it.

ANYWAY, because of that I continued the vacating of the bookshelf room and I ended up emptying three bookshelves but only two were in a state to push them into the corner with oversized trash.

“But Fer, didn’t you say the weather was ass?” Yes! And I got wet, but it was premeditated for once. I left both bookshelves outside my apartment, emptied my pockets, switched to my crocs, made sure I still had my keys, left a towel near the entrance and got into the rain.

I’m gonna be honest, I actually lowkey love getting soaked in the rain, there’s a certain element of “fuck it we’re already this deep” that’s liberating.

Aside from random incidents with rain here, I think the last time I got really REALLY soaking wet was in college. My college was in a section of the city that got INUNDATED at the slightest drizle even with drains and whatnot. There would be times where my dad would pick me up and when driving through the intersection you could FEEL waves of rainwater against the doors.

Anyway, one day (I remember it as a Tuesday for some reason but I’ve got no clue) I was on my way to college and one such rain was hitting like a motherfucker. I sheltered from the rain by some businesses and then… I saw an old lady.

This old lady, going through water that got up to her knees, looking without a care in the world, she didn’t even have shoes she had alpargatas (basically a more traditional, thinner kind of shoe).

At that moment I go “if she can do why can’t I? I’m young dammit” so I stop giving a fuck and walk in the rain, getting totally, utterly, completely SOAKED. I arrive to college dripping water everywhere.

I was like 20 at the time. Yes, I’ve always been like this, thank you for noticing.

Because of said rain, aside from getting food I didn’t do much, though I finally solved a mystery.

All around the place, especially near stations, I kept seeing these wheel-like bands on the floor. I thought it was like a car’s tires unbanding (or however you call when the outer layer breaks off) but they were too… squishy to be that.

IT’S THESE FUCKERS THAT EXPLAINS THAT.
