There’s a lot of manga I’ve followed ending lately…

Today’s deck is the Celtic Spirit Tarot.

Impressive gift box, I like the strong use of colors and outlines on them also.

Today’s reading is reflecting a sort of fear of “man, I should’ve listened to my gut feeling on this”. Which… a few things come to mind related to that, yeah.

You know, considering how responsably irresponsible I was with booze last night, I woke up shockingly fine all in all. Then again I’ve forgotten to move one of the humidifiers to my room so I’m kinda used to waking up with my mouth feeling like it’s full of cotton.

The main thing that’s been causing me issues has been my stomach. If you’ll remember I didn’t have much fun on my way back in the ferry and when you add the partying into the mix I really haven’t had enough time for it to settle down…

Funnily enough, this is where the pickles come into play. I really needed to eat something but to not upset my stomach too much I just nibbled on some of the daikon and carrot with some ミレー cookies on the side.

The last volume of 2.5D Temptation arrived in the mail and the most shocking thing is that I liked it a lot. I’ve been burned by shonen romcoms so much that it’s honestly easier to count the times where I HAVEN’T been burned out by them. Skip to the next image in the post to avoid spoilers but to be fair the ending is predictable.

The biggest thing is that the escalation of romance is tied to character growth, as an intrinsic consequence of character development. So with characters needing a clear endpoint for their development it means it avoids both the long-winded aimlessness of some like Love Hina and the unnecessary escalation of frivolous stakes like Nisekoi.

It also helps that the characters are pleasant and you root for them as much as you root for them to find each other unlike Ichigo 100% where the whole cast is full of irredimable assholes and a singular good girl done very dirty. And because they’re so nice the fact that the ending is basically the triangle being solved as a polycule not only feels natural (since it’s clear all sides of it care about each other equally) but it solves the intrinsic trapping of these things where you pit a bunch of characters against each other and nobody wins. There’s a reason Quintessential Quintuplets will bend backwards nowadays after the fact in order to pretend like it doesn’t have a canonical “winner”.

I was moved by the ending because the whole “character doesn’t feel like they deserve love and literally has the shadow of self-hate exorcised with a hug” hits me at my core, but the thing is that even afterwards just idly thinking about it it left me like “damn that was a nice conclusion, actually”.

Fun stuff.

Speaking of fun, I wanted to treat myself but I didn’t really wanna leave the house for too long, so I made a quick trip to a Seven Eleven and charged my Paypay account with about 20000 yen and just went digging around in DLsite.

Start of the year is always slow with the games there, but recently they did a thing where upcoming releases show up more in the searches and there’s a LOT coming up this year for sure.

A lot of the purchases I ended up making were manga, though. Mainly digital version of stuff I’ve bought physically.

As the day closed I got kinda hungry so I decided to try out the eggplant pickles I made on a toast and they were so good I ended up making like two other toasts.

So much for sensitive stomach, I guess…
