You know, I do like the way that using the same mat while travelling helps convey “this is a whole chapter, actually” visually.
There’s definitely a trend in the readings during the trip of not getting too distracted by choice, but this one is ironically more about not getting tunnel vision and ignoring things in the process. Indicating that there’s joyous stuff to be had in heeding the advice.

As of writing this I haven’t slept since posting the last entry.
I woke up at like 3PM after all, so 3AM is just about 12 hours after the fact. Not to mention I needed to go to the airport which was at least one hour in a cab.
So the time finally comes to leave and I go down to check out and oh would you look at that, none of the taxi apps are working whether because of the time or the place.

Thankfully, as it turns out, the hotel had a phone that connects directly to a taxi service, 60s Batman Style.
I call and on the road I go.
In the process I finished Nitro by Guy Evans. It rethreads a lot of stuff I already knew from other books but what keeps it from being redundant is how it focuses not just on the more corporate side of things but how it makes sure to emphasize how human everyone involved is.
Like, you don’t need a biased narrator in order to point out how dumb some of Vince Russo’s moves were, but instead of harping on the wrestling fan’s perspective of how dumb things were, it makes sure to emphasize how much of a toll it took on him mentally.

The airport was EMPTY, for as around the clock as they can be it’s always wild to see one so desolate.
Honestly the first thing I take from this whole trip is that I should pay for ANA whenever possible. In particular I had the boarding pass on my phone and was able to just check in the luggage myself with no extra lines.
Ironically being one of the first to check in luggage meant I was one of the last to pick my stuff up when leaving but that’s besides the point.

Despite going so early the travel timeline went shockingly smooth. I go through security, in looking for my gate I find a sushi shop to get food, and then because my gate was basically near one of the ends of the terminal by the time I make it there it’s already boarding time.
Once in the flight I nod off a lot but never fully fall asleep.
When in Kansai Airport I bought my express tickets but the train was delayed like 15 minutes or so on the road because of “unidentified noise”.
I’m crumbling, I’m falling asleep as I walk. I make it home and… I don’t have internet.

Jolted awake by this, I decided to check my mailbox and there’s already a couple of unpaid internet bills there. December plus January (which I could swear I paid) plus this month.
I drag my sleepy ass out the door to pay and I’m hoping to God they’re as hasty to reinstate service as they are to cut it.
For a number of different reasons (all of them of the “old trauma” variety) I was already having this general feeling of… ” Why is everything in my life coming with conditions and caveats?” And this combined with an existing trauma of “if a service gets cut lord knows when it’ll be set back up” was NOT doing my mental health any favors.
But I’m also tired, and I know perfectly well that if nothing else, tired brain no good.
I’d rather rant rested than go on a tired tirade so I’ll call things off here.
