I sure get the appeal of hair salons now…

Today’s deck is Titanic Risen Spirits.

Yes, a Titanic-themed deck. It’s kinda cool.

Today’s reading reflects a very specific fear of loneliness that comes and goes like the tides. It might be hitting me today, but it’ll be gone later.

Main thing today was the much-anticipated hair appointment. And to understand its impact let me describe to you how things usually went at the other place I used to go.

They would sit me down, ask me what I wanted, apply the bleach at once while Gintama or something else played on the TV, rinse it off, cut if cut was requested and call it a day. It wasn’t bad and I had no frame of reference but… well…

First thing the stylist in the new salon told me was “Hm… dunno if your hair could take that color” which was an improvement over the other place where they let me try double bleaching once without questioning.

Said double-bleached hair would cut off so cleanly once new hair grew that I was asked if I got a haircut one time.

So we’re already off to a good start, but then they give me a cushion for my lap and they had an ipad with Rakuten Magazine on it. So I spent the start of the session going through a magazine about bears and caution against bears which WAS helpful but the best prevention I can ever deal with bears is avoiding anything where a bear might be involved even remotely.

The thing is that even the way she applied the bleach was different, she went from the tip of my hair upwards and basically did things in such a way that it minimized the amount of time I spent with the hair bleach in my scalp to the barest minimum.

I got warm towels when my hair was being washed, there was a shoulder massage while my hair dried, they even offered me tea.

And even if we set aside all the tangential niceties for a moment, my hair ended up great! Not only was the pain from the bleaching minimum (though my pain tolerance rose after dealing with the hair transplant) but my hair didn’t feel… stiff or caked up or anything like that.

I sorta kinda joked about it a couple of days ago, but maybe I SHOULD try out a head spa.
